Organizational design and structure




Last week, we concentrated on studying 'introduction organization with business'.This is a reason,these days, there are a lot of companies and organization structures in the world. I will introduce 'organization structure' along with Tall,Flat, Matrix structures and current trends(functional, divisional, hybrid and emerging structures).

With respect to 'organization structure', it is structure about company mechanisms help facilitate working together across the units. Also, consists of separate organizational units supported by a shared infrastructure at the base.








Tall Structure is "Bureaucratic" it is traditional type structure with "Hierarchical" and "Narrow spans of control". Originally, this structure would have less motivation than other structures but i suggest it is depends on and sometimes tall structures can give more motivation for others since long chain of command can promote than flat and complex structures. Some people say 'the structures is Slow communication' but i think it is more a careful choice,analysis and policy with most experienced managers. Especially, army should choose the structures because rules and policies are most important at there also, high layers lead to promote for soldiers.



As far as Flat structure is concerned, it is one of traditional structures. innovative and creative works are most important to modern society. As a reason, Flat structures would have flexibility, delegation and empowerment. Also, short chain of command lead to give feel about employees can get good results and lead a company.







Matrix Structure is an functional structure what used both teams with functional and project groups. If a company needs one project, each functional teams staffs are selected one project team and then they will try to solve problem or lunching a product then break up the project team and return functional teams.This structure results in dynamic project teams and giving a good motivation for achievement about one project and success. Disadvantages would be difficult to monitor and lots of manger costs increased than others even sometimes can get confusion about functional vs projects team.






In additional, other factors also would influence to business such as size, leader's style, objectives, corporate culture and changes in technology etc.. 









To sum up, a company should considers organizational structure because, that is basic of company and mechanisms such as a convey-er belt. I believe wrong structure makes damage and hopelessly inefficient effect to company.
